2015 Foundation Recap

2015 was an incredible year for the Josh Seidel Memorial Foundation. Here's a recap of some of the amazing things we accomplished in our efforts to work hard, play hard and help others.

Following up the the first annual Trivia4Josh, held in October 2014, which raised over $90,000 - our second Trivia4Josh in 2015 raised $135,000! Stay tuned for info on the 2016 edition.

The second Spirit of Sigma Chi scholarship was awarded to Nicholas Pirotte, granting him a

$1,000 per semester scholarship. The 2014 recipient, Andrew Swailes, continues to receive his

scholarship.

Four Hands Brewing Co. brewed a one-of-a-kind beer in Josh's honor....appropriately named

Soul Shine.

Nearly 50 racers and supporters went to Columbia in May to participate in TriZou (or SlyZou as

we now like to call it) in Josh's name.

The Joshua M. Seidel Sendoff Scholarship was established, awarding a one-time $5,000

scholarship to a graduating senior in the Missouri School of Engineering program. The 2015

recipient is Alyssa Golz.

The Board established an investment fund to support the ongoing mission and vision of the

Foundation.

The Foundation awarded the CBC Robotics Club a $5,000 grant to support the development of

the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program at CBC, and the club’s activities

and competition. In addition, a $10,000 donation was made to to help transform CBC's senior lounge into a "Makerspace" where groups like the CBC Robotics Club and the Boeing Glider Challenge Team can gather to collaborate on various S.T.E.M. related projects and ideas. Work is underway and the workshop could be ready for use as soon as November.

As an acknowledgement of the Foundation's commitment to CBC and a further tribute to Josh,

CBC surprised the Seidel family with the creation of the Joshua M. Seidel Award, which

recognizes a graduating senior who has demonstrated aptitude and achievement in the science

and technology curriculum.

The third annual Tailgate4Josh was held in September at Mizzou. Nearly 200 people attended

to celebrate Josh and $5,000 was raised for the Foundation.

A $50,000 contribution was made to the University of Missouri School of Engineering to provide

students with state-of-the-art tools and technologies. In turn, Josh's legacy will be kept by the

perpetual naming rights to the new lab, the Joshua M. Seidel MU Advanced Concrete Materials

Laboratory.
