Kaitlyn Steinkamp
2025 Live Like Josh Seidel Engineering Scholarship Recipient
Kaitlyn Steinkamp is from Carlyle, IL, and pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering with
plans to graduate in May 2027. She serves as the Vice President of Internal Relations for the Mizzou Engineering Student Council and as the 2023 E-Week Ball Committee Head. She is an active member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), participates in Mizzou outreach and mentoring programs, and consistently works to guide younger engineering students as they begin their college journey.
Growing up in an agricultural town, Kaitlyn saw firsthand how science and innovation influence how food is grown, processed, and consumed worldwide. This sparked her curiosity about the chemistry behind everyday products and how engineering can improve them to better serve people and the environment. She also chose chemical engineering to push her outside her comfort zone. Kaitlyn interned with Procter & Gamble (P&G) on their Beauty R&D team as a Hair Care Formulation Intern. She looks forward to returning next summer to continue to grow her expertise and love for chemistry within the beauty industry!
In her free time, Kaitlyn loves spending time laughing with her family, tending to her growing orchid collection, trying new teas, and making as many college memories as she can! She also enjoys cheering on Mizzou (M-I-Z!), listening to live music at Cooper’s Landing, and laughing when her cats get their nightly zoomies.
Kaitlyn is honored to be selected as the 2025 Live Like Josh Seidel Engineering Scholarship recipient. She is deeply grateful for the foundation’s support and the confidence placed in her. "This is a meaningful reminder to choose to lean into the uncomfortable, laugh through rainy days, and uplift others with a smile whenever I can. I look forward to honoring Josh’s memory in the work I do, the people I serve, and the person I continue striving to become.”
