2024 Live Like Josh Seidel Engineering Scholarship Recipient
Wyatt Carlson is from Lee's Summit, MO, studying Electrical Engineering with plans to graduate in 2026. He's involved across the Mizzou campus, serving as an Mizzou Engineering Ambassadors Assistant Student Director , MizzouThon's philanthropy team Recruitment Director, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter Secretary and Chapter President .
Wyatt always had a passion for math, science, and problem solving, and channeled those engineering skills as a high school student spending half-days focused on STEM at Summit Technology Academy. There, he placed on the podium for Project Lead the Way's KC Engineering Design and Development Challenge, where he dove into electronics to design a circuit system for an innovative alarm clock. Wyatt's family has close ties to the KU, but Mizzou Engineering caught his eye as a senior, and he was thrilled to accept entrance to the both the school and Honors college.
Wyatt had a summer internship with Burns & McDonnell, and hopes to return to Kansas City as a staff engineer after graduating from Mizzou. His experience with the Instrumentation and Controls team was exciting and enriching, and he is excited about the opportunity to work for a company with a worldwide impact. Also a bonus to live close to home - and driving distance from gamedays in Columbia!! Wyatt plans to remain involved as an alumni board member for SigEp, and hopes to take advantage of opportunities to travel to new places.
Wyatt is honored to receive the Live Like Josh Seidel Engineering Scholarship. He is inspired by the legacy, memory, and impact of Josh, and hopes to bring the same character into his adult life. As a fraternity man, Wyatt feels a particular connection to the values that Josh exemplified in high life through his passions, skills in engineering, and love for family and friends. Just like Josh, Wyatt wants to always be a dependable son, brother, leader, and friend to all.
