Will Hawkins

2017 Spirit of Sigma Chi Scholarship Recipient

Will Hawkins is a Freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia majoring in International Business, set to graduate in 2020. A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Will graduated with an impressive 4.54 GPA where he was a National Honor Society member, Kansas Honors Scholar and a standout athlete on the soccer team where he was a Kansas City Star Scholar Athlete nominee and 2015 All-EKL Second Team honoree.

In his first semester on campus, Will posted an outstanding 3.74 GPA while going through rush. He's proud to note that all 41 of his Sigma Chi pledge brothers that began the 2016 Fall Semester were all initiated - marking one of the largest pledge classes in Xi Xi history. When he's not busy tutoring classmates, Will can be found working out at the Rec Center or searching for a soccer goal on campus (why are there no goals on campus?)!

Post-graduation, Will hopes to put his International Business degree to work by traveling the world, learning from various cultures and helping poverty-stricken countries through volunteer work. In the short term, Will is living like Josh to help bring a successful charity basketball tournament that began at his high school to Mizzou to help raise money to fight childhood cancer.

As of Fall 2018:

I’m currently a junior studying International Business and International Studies with emphases in Finance and Spanish. Next semester, I will be studying abroad in Barcelona and hopefully will be fluent by the time I return. After graduating in May 2020, I plan on working in investment banking or financial advising. Someday, I hope to start my own firm or lead a corporation in the financial sector.
